PhD in Computational Modelling. University of Greenwich, England, September, 1998.
Thesis: Numerical Techniques for Computational Aeroacoustics.
In that thesis a novel higher accuracy numerical scheme was proposed and investigated for the numerical simulation of sound waves propagation in moving fluid media.

Thesis: Swing-blade wave turbine simulation.

EXPERIENCE

October 1998 - Present: Senior Research Fellow in Numerical Modelling and Process Analysis, School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Greenwich.

Research and Consultancy

Performed process analysis and numerical computer simulations of various metallurgical processes using and extending (by design and development of additional software) the computational environment PHYSICA.  Responsible for user support, development and maintenance of the PHYSICA multi-physics computational modelling software package.

Projects to which I have contributed significantly include:

2011 :  Information system on the eutrophication of coastal areas (ISECA-INTERREG-2);

2008 – 2011 :  Modelling of Steel Converter Process, funded by ArcelorMittal Research;

2004 – 2009 :  IMPRESS – European integrated project on High-temperature turbine materials and Raney-type catalytic powders;

2006 – 2010 :  Vacuum Arc Remelting, EPRSC grant (EP/D505011/1);

2006 – 2011 :  Continuous Casting Modelling, funded by ArcelorMittal Research;

2003 – 2004 :  Vacuum Dezincing (EPRSC  GR/R35599/01);

2002 – 2003 :   Environmentally friendly aluminium electrolysis, funded by the USA government;

2001 – 2002 :   Induction ‘cold-crucible’ melting;

1998 – 2001 :  Magnetic semi-levitation melting of highly reactive alloys (EPSRC Grant No:- GR/L97483).

Teaching:  Multiphysics modelling for the processing industry (MSc level) - lectures, tutorials and examination; course uses the PHYSICA software (2005 - present).  Also supervised 6 doctoral students (4 successfully completed their PhD theses).

October 1995 - 1998: Postgraduate student in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Aeroacoustics, School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences, University of Greenwich.
Designed and developed software for direct numerical simulation of complex nonlinear sound fields in unsteady air flows. Applications include the reduction of aerodynamically generated noise by propellers, jets, high-speed tunnel exits, wind-swept buildings, etc.

January 1987 - September 1995: Assistant Lecturer, Department of Hydraulic Machines, Higher Institute of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Technical University), Sofia, Bulgaria.
* Responsible for teaching, examination, and project supervision of Mechanical Engineering students specialising in Hydraulic and Pneumatic Technology.
* Performed research on automated design and optimisation of hydraulic turbines and pumps based on efficient solvers for incompressible fluid flow.

OTHER ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Software tools for the computational modeller: Designed, wrote, and implemented software for easy mesh generation and computed results visualisation.
