26.3 Surface Tension Modelling

Surface tension on the interface between materials can result in the motion of the interface. The modelling of surface tension effects requires the inclusion of a source, that represents the force causing the motion, in the momentum equations. This source depends on the value of the surface tension, the curvature of the interface and any effects caused by the interaction of the free surface and a boundary. The derivation of the equations used in PHYSICA are described in Daniel Wheeler's thesis[13].
